Dinner runs long, the bar keeps its own hours, and the city does the rest. Menu and music follow closer to the night.
The last night of the first year
By the thirty-first of December the villa will have been open a matter of weeks, its first New Year's Eve, marked the way this house marks things: one long table, good glasses, no hurry at all.
One seating, one menu, served at the table. It is the table d'hôte tradition Hôtel du Nord brought to Trondheim in 1837, kept back for a night when nobody is going anywhere.
Here, time moves slower. Every gesture is deliberate.

Midnight, and the morning after
At a quarter to twelve the whole house turns to the windows. We hand round something cold to toast with, and the bar carries on afterwards for as long as there is a reason to.
Breakfast starts late and forgives everything: the artisan board brought to your table, warm pastries from the house oven, regional "brunost", and coffee for as long as it takes.
